2023/01/19In 2023, we published the updated information related to potential debris flow torrents and the rainfall threshold values for debris flow warning. Relevant agencies and specialists were invited to a review meeting on Dec.6th , updating total of 1,731 potential debris flow torrents, which covered 17 counties and cities, 159 townships, 690 villages. The potential areas and rainfall threshold value for large-scale landslide were added and set after the review meeting on Jan.9th, 2023. After the modification, total of 43 places of potential large-scale landslide areas were published, which covered 12 counties and cities, 29 townships, and 36 villages. The rainfall threshold values for debris flow and large-scale landslide warnings were published on Jan.19th, 2023, according to the official document (code: 農授水保字第1121866647號函)

2021/06/21To cope with the impact brought by the front and the southwesterly flow, the Bureau cooperated with Nantou branch and Tainan branch to set up a debris flow disaster emergency response team for 0621 torrential rain and Guanghua landslide at level 3, and the team was extracted at 7:30 am of June 23rd. The warnings issued within the response period were all cleared at 6:30 of June 23rd.

2021/06/03To cope with the impact brought by Typhoon Choi-wan and 0605 torrential rain, the Bureau cooperated with CEOC, SWCB Tainan branch and Taitung branch to set up debris flow disaster emergency response team at level 2. CWB lifted the sea warning for the typhoon at 20:30 pm of June 4th. In order to prevent another disaster caused by the torrential rain, the branch in Taipei, Taichung, Nantou, and Tainan, all kept guard until 6:30 am of June 7th. The chairperson, Chen Chi-Chung inspected the emergency response team in the morning of June 6th.

2021/05/14The Soil and Water Conservation Bureau subsided 2021 Pingtung Disaster Prevention and Rescue Drill. The vice chairperson, Chen Tien-Shou, served as the leader of the drill, and the SWCB director, Lee Cheng-Yang attended in this event as well. The drill scenario was an earthquake with a magnitude of 7 on the Richter scale hit Chaozhou Fault near Pingtung County, and the typhoon came along. The drill contained 13 sessions, including procedure of earthquake evacuation and rescue, autonomous disaster prevention community operation, debris flow warning issuance and evacuation, etc.

2021/05/07The 2021 Keelung Disaster Prevention and Rescue Drill (Ming-An No.7) was held at CSBC Corporation. President Tsai Ying-Wen and officials from departments of Executive Yuan attended in the event. Vice Chairperson, Huang Chin-Cheng, and the SWCB Director, Lee Cheng-Yang took attendance on the behalf of Council of Agriculture. The drill scenario was an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.9 on the Richter scale hit the fault near Keelung City, and the typhoon and torrential rain came along. The scenario showed how to react when both earthquake and torrential rain strike, the drill included procedure of earthquake evacuation and rescue, autonomous disaster prevention community operation, and debris flow warning issuance, etc.

2021/04/27To implement the debris flow and large-scale landslide disaster prevention and preparedness, the Bureau invited counties and cities governments to review the disaster preparedness works through three meetings. Each county and city government had completed the evacuation plan, protected objects lists, and updates of the evacuation shelters. This year, it is planned to subsidy the local governments to hold 184 autonomous disaster prevention community drills, 56 practical exercises, and enhance 53 places of disaster prevention equipment/facilities. Each branch had finished the emergency response open contract to cope with the urgent situation, and the Bureau subsided the local offices purchasing heavy-duty machines so that they can be standby at any moment in case the disaster area might get expanded.

2021/04/20In accordance with the 2021 Chiayi Disaster Prevention and Rescue Exercise, the Bureau held a flag awarding ceremony for debris flow disaster prevention commissioners. The vice chairperson, Tien-Shou Chen, Chiayi County Mayor, Chang-Liang Weng, and SWCB Director, Cheng-Yang Lee attended in the ceremony and handed out the senior awards to honor 76 commissioners who have serviced for over a decade.

2021/04/07The Bureau released the 12 places of potential large-scale landslide area and the rainfall threshold value according to Article 22 of Disaster Prevention and Response Act and Article 6 of The Freedom of Government Information Law

2021/03/26The Bureau call a meeting to discuss how to improve the disaster prevention and response capability in Guanghua landslide area in Fuxing Dist., Taoyuan City. The meeting was hosted by Director Lee, many specialists, scholars, and companies attended in the meeting. The attendees shared topics about the current situation in the area and discussed the further actions.

2021/03/15The Bureau invited governments at all levels and each branch of SWCB to attend in the 2nd debris flow disaster prevention and preparedness meeting on March 15th, discussing important works such as reviewing the process of disaster prevention and preparedness, following up the inspection and update of the disaster evacuation plan, and contracting of autonomous disaster prevention training plan and heavy-duty machine.
